Eoin O'Leary

Untitled

(II)

A night for writing
The scriptoriums scratch
Of bird on egyptian reed,
Bred of Nile.
Moses basket too
No confusion.

Biography

I am a fifteen year old 3rd Yr student in Malahide Community College, Co. Dublin. I have always had a strong interest in poetry, and often write after reading. Micheal Longley wrote "Ceasefire" after reading Homer's "Iliad," I wrote a poem after reading "Ceasefire." I am greatly influenced by writers such as Emily Dickenson, Allen Ginsberg and Christina Rosetti. I do believe that the world has become so consumed with matters of little importance that the need to re-revive the literary revolution has been overlooked. I aspire to be a journalist, as I feel it is a most effective way to convey issues through the medium of print. This summer, I intend to study a Journalism course in the Irish Centre for Talented Youth, in DCU.
