Olutayo Kadmiel Osunsan

We Will Live

The mountains are gray and the valleys are green.
There are days and nights.
We will live.

The sun burns the back of those on the fields.
The rocks cut the soles of our bare feet.
We will struggle.

The baked earth crumple into dust as we plough.
Our sweats water the earth.
We will labour.

Our fathers die in their struggle for the promise.
Our mothers cry in pain.
We will stand.

Blood flows through our veins.
Tears fall from our eyes.
We will survive.

Stir down in our bruised hearts.
Roam in our heads
We will live.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow. There will always be tomorrow.
Tomorrow, the twilight moon will drop
And the sun will rise again.
The birds will sing
And the wind will blow.
People will come
And people will go.
The old will die
And the young will grow.
The rain will fall
And the rivers will flow.
Then the sun will shine
And the moon will glow.
Tomorrow will always be tomorrow.
Tomorrow is just another
Translucent celestial secret,
Preserved in God's graceful hands.
