Spirit Led

("The best thing to do is…get on with your new life. God's Spirit beckons. There are things to do and places to go!" Romans 8:13,14 [The Message])

Once the deadends and roadblocks have had their way
and pride lies piled up on the curb like Tuesday's garbage
you find yourself with nothing to say.

You know how certain roads squeeze you past neighborhoods
with which you have nothing in common?
Whether warehouse districts, smokey and coffee-filled,
or spackled barns steaming with hay and manure,
these were not the destinations you intended.

You pull out the map, backtrack your journey,
and realize you've gone too far to begin again.

Like it or not.

You find you've invested in two worlds. You've spent
everything to get where you are; breath, money, pride and position;
to be led to tiny dots in life that amount to nothing.

Or so it seems.

Behind the scenes,
inside the heartbeats,
there must be amusing navigation.

Past the skylines,
inside the cubbyholes,
there must be reflective appreciation.

What you really wish is that you had known the
sparse pasture you would end up in
when you started this road.

And, worst of all, God keeps it all a secret
till the end.

Breathe, there's nothing left to do but--
Breathe. Throw away the map and bank account and--
Breathe

Spirit breath that led you here.

breathing,
