New Beginnings

Oh do not let the years just pass you by
As age wears down upon the heavy feet
A life that flows so fast, we can but try

The day is done, he leans back with a sigh
He sits with pen and fumbles with the sheet
Oh do not let the years just pass you by

The writing for his book, he can't deny
He thinks of all the deadlines he must meet
A life that flows so fast, we can but try

With heavy heart he lets the pen go dry
Don't let this moment pass, let it be sweet
Oh do not let the years just pass you by

As hopes descend in semblance of a cry
He gazes bleakly round and can't delete
A life that flows so fast, we can but try

On grassy slopes, in Summer's gentle sky
He writes refreshed, upon the garden seat
Oh do not let the years just pass you by
A life that flows so fast, we can but try

Toffee Rum

I opened my mailbox
and what did I find
Toffee Rum coffee
Not expecting this
deliciously aromatic
present, sent by
my loved one, it
stands on the desk
Permeating the room
with its sweet rich
scent, intoxication
sends me as I drink
in headiness, thinks
of my love sipping
from his cup, and
soon we will do
this, together.

Biography

I live in Adelaide, South Australia, by the beach with my two girls. I began to write poetry in February of this year and discovered a means of expressing thoughts in a way that I thoroughly enjoy. I could not have done this without the support of my partner Daini so he deserves a special mention. I have also had poetry published in the online publication of Ceteris Paribus.
