A
New Day
Footsteps
in the morning dew
like wet henna
on the soles of a bride's feet
Flutter
in the heart
as she reaches out
a jasmine flower
for a new day
The
Embrace
Fragrant
floating
painted peach
the flower petal
embraces
the chocolate earth
under the flippant
sole of his boot
casually placed
with a mocking smile
on his glowing face
Peace
I
extend my arms
around all there is
and close my eyes
to savour the warmth
it
radiates
from my heart centre
like a touch of chiffon
whispering from within.
The Monastery
I caught a glimpse of you
in the eyes of a man
who had gold in his teeth
as we sat in a garden
where saffron tinted butterflies
played like rice paper kites
He
talked of a journey
to the land of his ancestors
as we walked touching trees
with leaves that ruffled
like the silk around my feet
you
were in the colour of the bluebells
that reminded me of a promise
to meet you
on Caerphilly mountain
when
we stopped to say hello to Humphrey
your whisper penetrated
the silence
soaking the rooftops
under which dead men lay asleep
