Thinking about love

May midnight
listening to Brazilian sambas
as I'm driving home across the canal,

thinking about love:
thinking about the eau de nil sky
spread above Ardnacrusha
silken as a sheet waiting to be wrinkled ;

thinking about love :
a sky blue Shaker heart-shaped cushion
strategically placed on the guest-room counterpane
to hide the burn the secret smoker left ;

thinking about love ,
pulsing in my veins , waiting for chance
to tap it like sap , holding out my arm
bent up, fist clenched.

Biography

Patricia-Anne Moore lives in Killaloe and has been writing since she moved there in 1992. Her poems have been published in Denmark,Canada, and in Ireland . She is currently working towards the publication of a first collection .
