Juice!
You
tell me you love me
even though you know there is no chance
I will love you back
You
tell me you dream of me every night,
even though I don't give you the time of day.
You
scrawl endless love poems to me that
I have stopped reading; I feel only a sense of
apathy at each and every one.
You
tell me how lucky I am to live
next to an apple orchard where I
can have fresh juice every day, even
though I never touch the stuff.
Coming
Clean
I
washed away you
Like a day at the beach,
Making sure to scrub the ocean's scent
From the waves of my hair,
Not caring how much it hurt
To be rid of the redolence;
I lathered away
Every grain of sand,
From my arms,
My legs,
Between my toes,
Not wanting to be reminded
Of a single trace,
And feeling only gladness
As each granule of you
Went down the drain.
