Dan Burnstein

Petulant Love

Sweet bird of the earliest black spring
seeking that tremulous sighing
one second we're circulating
and the artist stops his crying
drops of bloody sun form
today as all dying ended
and my young lover walked me around
South Boston's Carson Beach
allowing me to boast in soulful indolence
I fight my ragged heart my frailty
so then occurred the ultimate cruelty
my lover left me for a new shoe
MY new shoe to chew
oh please come back my sweet
Jack!
