I
talked to my faraway friend
and the phone made with that little delay
between her voice and mine,
just enough to remind us of distance,
and the months since last eye-contact.
So
we slowed down, passing
our words to and fro,
like children sharing a sweet cake
that might crumble, if they didn't take care.
