Life
They
say that life gets easier, but I have news for you,
This game of life is easy; with some luck to pull you through,
But my rabbit's foot got broken somewhere along the way
And someone stole my lucky charm, that's why I have to pay.
Then I met a kind old dear who spoke to me one day,
I
listened quite contentedly to what she had to say.
She said, Troubles come to test you, they help to make you
strong,
So never underestimate these problems do belong,
And
sometime in the future you'll look back and hear my voice
And you'll remember what I said and then you'll have a choice,
Because every mountain that you climb makes you a little nicer,
And every war that's won or lost makes everybody wiser.
I
wondered if she spent her days never to complain,
To plod through life inviting strife you'd have to be insane,
But that was many years ago and yes I do confess,
Sometimes I thought her wise old words just got me in a mess.
But somehow every word that she then uttered did come true,
And though we all face problems with some faith we all pull
through,
And yes we know that life; is not all fun and games,
And just like in the schoolyard we call each other names.
But
if we try each day, to do a kindly deed
And offer to help others less fortunate in need.
Then we become the lucky ones this tale I tell to you,
Just like the wise old lady's words that help me when I'm
blue.
So
don't forget to do a kindly deed each passing day,
And then before you go to bed you've got no need to pray.
